FY26 rate to apply

0.50

kgCO₂e per AU$ spent (ex GST)All ABLP products · company-wide average

Estimate only. This is ABLP’s company-wide FY26 emissions divided by its FY26 sales revenue (ex GST, excluding government grants and other income), not a measured footprint of any product. Much of it comes from spend-based estimates, and it has not been independently assured. Greener prepared it from information supplied by ABLP. Calculator results are estimates too. Read the important information below before using this in a report or public claim.

One rate covers everything ABLP sells. It is a company-wide average per dollar, not a product carbon footprint. FY26 includes energy for ABLP’s hatchery expansion that was not yet producing sales, so this rate is higher than a steady-state rate.

What makes up the rate

About 60% ABLP operationsAbout 40% upstream

Upstream is what ABLP buys, the supply chain of its fuel and electricity, the freight ABLP pays for, and waste.

Quick answers

Where do I report it?

Scope 3, Category 1: Purchased goods and services. Freight you arrange from ABLP’s Chinderah gate is not included: report it in your Category 4.

Is the rate independently assured?

No. The FY26 rate is not independently assured. Greener calculated it from information supplied by ABLP. ABLP’s FY26 Scope 1 and 2 totals are within the scope of a limited assurance engagement by its auditor. That engagement does not cover this page or this rate.

  • Can be used in place of a generic spend-based factor for what you buy from ABLP.
  • Covers ABLP’s farming, processing and chilling at Chinderah, its vehicles, and what ABLP buys to run the business, including seafood it buys for resale, feed and packaging.
  • Never use this rate as a per-kilogram product footprint, for freight you arrange yourself, or to support any low-emissions, carbon neutral or net zero claim about any product.
  • The FY26 rate used for a later year is a prior-period estimate. Disclose it as such.

Transport from a supplier in vehicles you don’t own or control is Category 4 (GHG Protocol Scope 3 Technical Guidance). ABLP’s rate already includes the freight ABLP pays for.

Boundary

What’s inside the number

This rate combines ABLP’s own operating emissions for the year to 30 June 2026 with the upstream emissions from ABLP’s own Scope 3 inventory, for you to apply to what you spend with ABLP. It covers Australian Bay Lobster Producers Limited, which has no subsidiaries.

Included

  • Refrigerant top-ups to the processing and chilling plant
  • Fuel for ABLP’s vehicles, and LPG for heating and hot water
  • Electricity at Chinderah and the Kingscliff pump station
  • Goods and services ABLP buys, including seafood bought for resale, feed and packaging
  • The supply chain of ABLP’s fuel and electricity
  • Freight ABLP pays for, inbound and any outbound it arranges, and waste from ABLP’s operations

Excluded

  • Freight you arrange from ABLP’s Chinderah gate (yours to report in Category 4)
  • Capital goods, dominated in FY26 by expansion spending, which is not attributable to what you buy
  • Business travel and employee commuting, which are not attributable to products
  • Energy at two residential properties ABLP pays for, under review and not yet fully quantified
  • Electricity at the Sydney depot to October 2025, not separately metered and assessed as immaterial

The upstream part comes from ABLP’s own FY26 Scope 3 inventory, not a generic estimate. Goods and services are estimated from ABLP’s spend using price-adjusted spend-based factors. Freight, waste and the fuel and electricity supply chain are calculated mainly from activity data.

Methodology

How the rate was calculated

The detail an assurance practitioner is likely to ask for, in one place.

Scope 1 and 2 measured using the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard

and Scope 2 Guidance (location-based). Allocation to customers by revenue is ABLP’s method.

Emission factors

National Greenhouse Accounts Factors 2025 (DCCEEW) for fuel, electricity, refrigerants and waste. Greener’s spend-based factor library for purchased goods and services. IPCC AR5 100-year warming potentials, except one refrigerant blend the NGA does not list, which uses a published AR6 value.

Upstream

ABLP’s own FY26 Scope 3 inventory: Categories 1, 3, 4 and 5, the parts attributable to what ABLP sells.

Audit trail to source records

Scope 1 and 2 lines trace to source invoices and records. The upstream part uses spend-based factors for goods and services.

Precision

Rounded up to the next 0.05. Uncertainty about ±15%. Known gaps point upward, so the rate is set at the cautious end. About two-thirds of the rate comes from activity data (metered electricity, fuel, refrigerants, freight and waste) and about one-third from spend-based estimates.

Questions customers ask

What is ABLP’s FY26 emissions rate?

0.50 kgCO₂e per AU$ spent with ABLP, excluding GST. It covers FY26 (1 Jul 2025 to 30 Jun 2026). One rate covers everything ABLP sells.

How do I use it?

Multiply what you spent with ABLP by the rate. For example, AU$250,000 × 0.50 = 125,000 kgCO₂e, or 125.0 tCO₂e.

How is the rate calculated?

ABLP’s FY26 Scope 1 and location-based Scope 2 emissions, plus the upstream Scope 3 categories attributable to what ABLP sells (purchased goods and services, fuel and energy supply chain, freight ABLP pays for and waste), divided by ABLP’s FY26 sales revenue, excluding GST, government grants and other income. The result is rounded up to the next 0.05.

Why one rate for everything ABLP sells?

ABLP farms bay lobster and trades other seafood. FY26 data can’t yet split emissions reliably between them, so the rate is a company-wide average. ABLP may publish separate rates in future years.

What is in the upstream part?

The emissions from making what ABLP buys, including seafood bought for resale, feed and packaging, plus the supply chain of its fuel and electricity, freight ABLP pays for and waste. Purchased goods and services are estimated from spend, so they are less precise than ABLP’s measured energy use.

Can I use this as a product carbon footprint?

No. It is an average per dollar for corporate Scope 3 reporting, not a life cycle assessment of any product, and it does not cover freight you arrange, storage or anything else after the Chinderah gate.

How long is the rate current, and what if it changes?

It was calculated for FY26 and stays current until the FY27 rate is published (target 31 Oct 2027). The FY26 rate used for a later year is a prior-period estimate; disclose it as such. Errors are corrected when found, and each change is recorded in the version history on this page.

What does “calculated by Greener” mean?

Greener traced each activity line to its source record and calculated the result. That is not independent assurance. This FY26 rate is not independently assured.

Important information

What this is. Australian Bay Lobster Producers Limited (ABLP) publishes this statement voluntarily, on a best-effort basis, to help customers estimate emissions from their ABLP purchases. The rate is ABLP’s FY26 (1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026) Scope 1, location-based Scope 2 and upstream Scope 3 emissions, divided by its FY26 sales revenue (ex GST, excluding government grants and other income). Much of Scope 3 uses spend-based estimates. It is a company-wide estimate, not a measured footprint of any product.

Assurance. This rate and the Scope 3 estimate are not independently assured.

Using it. You may use the rate to estimate emissions from your ABLP purchases, including in your own reporting, if you describe it as an unassured FY26 supplier estimate and cite this page. Do not use it as a product footprint, for any low or zero emissions claim, or to support any offset, neutrality or net zero claim. Do not also apply a spend-based factor to that spend. You are responsible for your own reports.

No offsets. These are gross emissions, with no credits or offsets deducted.

Who prepared it. Greener calculated the rate and hosts this page, using information supplied by ABLP. ABLP is responsible for that information, which Greener has not audited.

Changes. Figures may be revised if errors are found or data improves. Version history is on this page.
